The Novice Teachers Leadership Development Programme by Teach The Nation (TTN) is a fully funded, two-year initiative designed to empower early-career educators working in under-resourced schools across KwaZulu-Natal and other selected provinces. This programme equips novice teachers with Conscious Leadership (CL) and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) to drive meaningful change in their classrooms and communities. Through personalized coaching, collaborative learning, and real-world leadership development, participants will enhance their teaching practice, improve learner outcomes, and become influential leaders in South Africa’s public education system.

Responsibilities

• Participate in two monthly 30-minute coaching sessions to develop leadership and teaching skills
• Engage in one virtual Community of Practice session per school term to collaborate with peers
• Undergo one classroom observation per term to refine instructional strategies
• Track and share learner academic performance for ongoing monitoring and support
• Contribute to surveys involving Fellows, Learners, Principals, and other stakeholders
• Design and implement Community Impact Projects that address local educational challenges
• Attend the Summer Institute in 2026 for intensive leadership and teaching development
• Complete all assignments and skills development pathways required by the programme

Qualifications

• Currently employed as an educator in an under-resourced primary or high school
• Have 1 to 3 years of teaching experience
• Based in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Gauteng, or Limpopo
• Aged between 22 and 35 years
• Qualified to teach in Foundation, Intermediate, Senior, or Further Education and Training (FET) phases
• Qualified to teach subjects including STEM, Languages, IT, Coding, or Robotics
• Registered South African citizen
• SACE registered or have proof of application
